FOR
IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Caligor
Rx Presents Penn and USciences Bioethicist at the
2010
Clinical Trial Supply East Coast Conference
NEW
YORK, Thursday Oct 14th, 2010 - - Caligor Rx, one of the leading clinical trial
procurement companies, is sponsoring a special presentation entitled, “Ethical Considerations in Global Clinical Trials Supplies: The New GCPs - Good Clinical
Procurement Practices,”
at the 2010
Clinical Trial Supply East Coast Conference in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at the Hilton
Philadelphia City Avenue. The
presentation will be held at 3PM on Wednesday October 20th, and a
link to register for the conference is provided below.
The
presentation will focus on the ethical considerations for sourcing comparator
drugs through the clinical supply chain. Specifically:
- How good clinical procurement practices can be
seen as an ethical derivation of the International Conference on
Harmonisation’s Good Clinical Practices and its focus on research
integrity;
- The dangers of unethical or poorly controlled
clinical trial supply sourcing on research integrity (e.g., diversion of
trial medicines; use of placebos when clinical equipoise is absent); and
- To what extent companies have an ethical and
scientific duty to supply comparator drugs for trials.
Joseph
E. Safdie, Esq., Caligor’s Vice President and Corporate Counsel, continuously
stresses the importance of ethical
considerations for sourcing comparator drugs.
Joseph
said, "It
is important to partner with experts in the field such as Professor Perlman.
Such partnerships illustrate that Caligor Rx is taking a leadership role in
bringing important ethical discussions to the forefront in our industry."
